ALLENTOWN, PA.- The Board of Trustee s of the
Allentown Art Museum recently elected Sanford T. Beldon Board Chair. A board member for eighteen years, he is returning to a position he held several years ago.
This is an exciting time, said Beldon, to be associated with the museum as it embarks on an expansion program that will substantially enhance its contributions to the Lehigh Valley community especially in the education areas.
Beldon retired as a senior vice president of Rodale, Inc. where he served as publisher of Organic Gardening, Prevention and other magazines. He was a founding board member of the Wildlands Conservancy, served as board chairman of Lehigh Valley Child Care, the Second Harvest Food of N.E. Pennsylvania and the boards of Lehigh County Youth Advisory Board and the Lehigh County Historical Society.
Elected as the museums Vice Chair was Stephen J. Jones, senior vice president and general manager, Tonnage Gases, Equipment and Energy of Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. Prior to joining Air Products, Jones was a practicing attorney. He serves on the board of directors for the Forum for Ethics in the Workplace and on the board of governors of the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation and is a member of the Presidents Advisory Council of Moravian College.
Mary M. Faust and Roberto Fischmann have joined the museum board. Faust, newly appointed president of the museums Society of the Arts volunteer organization will serve as an ex-officio board member. She has served on the board and as past president of the Allentown YWCA and the League of Women Voters of Lehigh County.
Fischmann will begin serving a three-year term as a museum trustee. He is a member of the museums collection committee. His many community activities included membership on the Moravian Academy board of directors and as treasurer of the Jewish Day School of the Lehigh Valley.
