NEW YORK, NY.- The Jan Krugier Gallery will close its offices in New York and transfer its operations to Galerie Krugier & Cie, Geneva, Switzerland. The closing will occur at the end of the year.

Tzila Krugier explains, "I have decided to center the Krugier company in Geneva where I live and where the family's business has been conducted since 1962. Of course we will continue to be very active in New York and in the United States. Our clients here will continue to be very important to us, and our relationships with galleries and dealers, developed over the past 40 years, will be preserved and made even stronger. But I have decided that the most efficient and effective way to conduct our business is to consolidate all operations in Geneva.”

The Jan Krugier Gallery of New York has been a fixture in the art world for decades. It specializes in 19th century, 20th century and contemporary art and original prints. It frequently conducts museum-quality exhibitions that provocatively juxtapose artworks from different periods and by different artists. The Gallery was first established by Ms. Krugier's father, Jan Krugier in 1967; it eventually moved to the Fuller Building in 1987 where Ms. Krugier served as Gallery Director for more than 15 years. The Gallery is currently located at 980 Madison Avenue.
The Geneva gallery will continue to participate in international art fairs such as Art Basel (Basel, Switzerland and Miami Beach), Tefaf Maastricht and the Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris. Ms. Krugier will also work to expand the gallery’s contemporary department. A new artist will be shown in Geneva in April 2011.

Ms. Krugier also plans to devote considerable time to the further development of the Jan Krugier Foundation, to be established in honor of her father, who passed away in November 2008. The world-famous dealer and collector was honored with the Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in 1996. The Foundation will organize exhibitions of the family’s extraordinary private collection of paintings, drawings and prints in various museums throughout the world.

Ms. Krugier will speak at the Tel Aviv Museum in November before its International Council of Governors during the Museum's tribute to Jan Krugier. The artist Ofer Lellouche will then unveil a sculpture honoring the memory of her father.
