NEW YORK, NY.- Phillips de Pury & Company announced two senior appointments in the Photographs Department.
Vanessa Kramer has been appointed Worldwide Head of Photographs. She will assume her new role effective immediately, overseeing both the creative and business aspects of a united global department. She also continues to be Head of Photographs, New York. Throughout her five years with Phillips de Pury, and especially during her year and a half overseeing the New York team, Vanessa's energy and dedication have resulted in an ever-expanding profile for the department.
Louise Proud has been appointed Head of Photographs, London. In her time as a Senior Specialist, Louise's outstanding performance and leadership abilities have helped to expand Phillips de Pury's position as an important player in the European photographs market, and we look forward to continuing growth in the field.
Vanessa Kramer has been with Phillips de Pury & Company since 2005 and has contributed to the photographic sales worldwide as Director of Photographs in New York. Previously she worked in Client Services at Sothebys 2004-2005, as a Portfolio Associate at the New England Research and Management in 2003 and was a Museum Educator at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA, in 2002. She gained her BA in Art History cum laude from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY, and her postgraduate degree in American Fine and Decorative Arts from Sothebys Institute of Art.
Louise Proud joined Phillips de Pury & Company in 2009 after a period as a private dealer. She began her career in photography in 1997 at Magnum Photos London, where she worked mainly with Henri Cartier Bresson. Her work at Focus Gallery London from 1998-1999, and with Eric Franck, a private dealer in photography from 2000-2002, as well as regularly participating in international art fairs has given her an expertise in 20th-century Photography and in global markets. In 2004 she joined Atlas Gallery where she became Associate Director.
