KANSAS CITY, MO.- Visitors to
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art will be able to arrive in high style when brightly decorated pedicabs ferry passengers from the Country Club Plaza to the Museum for Monets Water Lilies. Three pedicabs operated by Tricycle Transit will bring visitors to several stops around the Country Club Plaza with a special stop for those who want to see the Museum. There is no cost to passengers unless they care to tip the pedicab driver.
This is another way that we have made the Museum more accessible to the public, said Nelson-Atkins Director & CEO Julián Zugazagoitia. There is also an added bonus. The pedicab drivers are handing out
business cards that give two dollars off the admission price for the Monet exhibition.
On the back of the card is the telephone number to call the pedicab once visitors have seen the exhibition and want a ride back to the Plaza. The pedicab service debuted last fall in Downtown Kansas City and the Crossroads area and is now expanding operations to the Plaza.
We saw a need for this service and thought it would be a fun addition for Plaza shoppers, said Jay Matlack, owner of Tricycle Transit. Mapping out a route to the Nelson-Atkins seemed like a natural idea.
Three of the pedicabs are wrapped in a vinyl Water Lilies-inspired design so they will be easily spotted by Plaza-goers. An A-frame signboard reading Take me To Monet at the Courtyard Kansas City Country Club Plaza at 4600 J. C. Nichols Parkway designates the area passengers can wait to be picked up and taken to the Museum.
