MADRID, SPAIN.- The Santander Central Hispano Foundation presents "Alonso Cano: The Modernity in the Spanish Golden Century", on view through Mat 26, 2002. The exhibition was curated by Ignacio Henares Cuéllar. The show presnets a significative part of the production by Alonso Cano through forty-five art works that offer a historic and aesthetic revision of his work, and coincides with the fourth centennial of his birth. Museums such as the Prado Museum, the Royal Acadamy of Fine Arts of Saint Fernando, the Fine Arts Museum of Seville, the Fine Arts Museum of Granada, the Fine Arts Museum of Malaga, the El Escorial Monastery, and the Seville Cathedral have loaned works from their collections for this exhibition.
