An Italian bronze ecorche model of a pacing horse possibly attributed to Luigi Valadier, Rome, Late 18th Century. On a later ebonized plinth, 9 in. (23 cm.) high, 8¾ in. (22 cm.) wide; 12¾ in. NEW YORK, NY.- A Park Avenue Interior by Mark Hampton realized $1,595,988/£973,163/€1,093,142 and was sold 94% by lot and 91% by value at Christie's New York. The top lot was An Italian bronze ecorche model of a pacing horse, possibly attributed to Luigi Valadier, realizing $98,500/£60,061/€67,465.

Buyers responded with strong bidding to the marvelously blended collection of modern and old offered as a Park Avenue interior. The excellent results are a tribute both to Mark Hampton as a taste-maker and to the faith and trust bestowed in him by his client. We are especially pleased with the continued strength of demand for single-owner collection sales and, together with A Trumbauer Estate on the Philadelphia Main Line, this sale concludes a successful season of collection sales in New York.”

500 Years: Decorative Arts Europe Including Oriental Carpets realized $5,519,775/£3,365,716/€3,780,668 and was sold 70% by lot and 78% by value. The top lot was a fine pair of Napoleon III ormolu-mounted cut-brass, red tortoiseshell-inlaid and ebony 'boulle' commodes, which realized $458,500/£279,573/€314,041.

In particular, an enormous amount of international participation confirms the widespread interest in the broad spectrum of property offered under the ‘500 Years’ umbrella. The offering of the 2nd installment of The Robert Pearson Cane Collection brought the collection’s total to $1.2 million, vastly exceeding the pre-sale estimate, while Selections from the Private Collection of Michael Simon totaled $753,125, against a low estimate of $400,000. It was a great pleasure to work with Michael Simon and his collection; we were not surprised the buyers responded so positively. This sale concludes a very successful Spring season in New York for the 500 Years: Decorative Arts Europe sales, totaling $16.5 million and we look forward to The Exceptional Sale 2011 in London on 7 July.”
