MARRAKECH.- The second edition of the modern and the contemporary
Marrakech Art Fair will take place at the Palace Es Saadi from September 30th to October 3rd 2011, with more than fourteen international galleries.
As last year, the organizers Hicham and Zineb Daoudi have developed, a cultural circuit enrolled in the most emblematic places of Marrakech. In the heart of this circuit, an exhibition called Images affranchies (Liberated Images) will be presented at the same time as a meeting about contemporary art in the Arab revolutions.

« Images affranchies » is photography and video exhibition conceived by Brahim Alaoui that brings together a selection of Arab contemporary artists. Those ones even though they have absorbed the culture of image, they start to free their work from the classical way of representing and from the so-called taboos coming from a presumed iconoclast culture.
The artists combined for this exhibition are: Adel ABIDIN, Leila ALAOUI, Halim AL KARIM, Hicham BENOHOUD, Meriem BOUDERBALA, Mohamed EL BAZ, Nina ESBER, Nicène KOSSENTINI, Amal KENAWY, Mehdi MEDDACI, Youssef NABIL, Moataz NASR, Yazid OULAB, Younès RAHMOUN and Faysal SAMRA.
Once the communication tools and the ways of expressing created by digital art are mastered, these artists kept on conquering subjectivities in order to articulate the individual and the collective. The suggested exhibition bears singularity and diversity views of the new generation artists who explore new ways to show a changing universe.
The digital scene actors have anticipated and prefigured the Arab world internet users by taking possession of the web, in order to emancipate their country. notes Brahim Alaoui. He pursues, « If their claims are today taking turns to the web, however it echoes back to the liberated images that are already used by the contemporary artists since a decade. These creative artists images reveal a new critical view of theses societies et the tensions crossing them via numerous strategies and visual metaphor. They reveal the sense of intimate, call into question the history and the memory, free the imagination and unlock to the present world splits.
