LONDON.- Bonhams have appointed Jan Zvelebil as the companys Representative in the Czech Republic. Jan, 39, is a native of Prague, where he is based, operating a number of transport related briefs.
He was educated at the Czech Technical University, Prague in construction of mechanical machines and at High Engineering College. He also had a qualifiation in optical instrument and engineering design and construction. He also studied English language for Business at Oxford House College, London.
His other professional qualifications include: Business Economy and accounting training at the Financial Institute, Prague; Management and bussiness development (Renault); all level communication skills in business (MHC UK/BT Sweden); and Business skills for KA client care (Rank Xerox).
He has worked for several UK and US based companies in the motoring sector and is well known in vintage car and motorcycle circles. Since 1993 he has run a business trading and restoring mainly British Historic vehicles built between 1900 to 1970. He is the Representative for Morgan cars in the Czech Republic.
Eleven years ago he co-founded a Czech magazine called MOTOR JOURNAL concerned with older cars and motorcycles and remains involved with the publishing side of the magazine and occasionally writes articles for it.
He is a consultant for the Czech Ministry of Transport and for the last eight years has been the Czech representative for FIVA in Brussels for FKHV-CR [Federation of Historic Vehicle Clubs in the Czech Republic]. In 2005 he helped to organize the FIVA World Motorcycle Rally in Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
A regular participant in the Vintage motorcycle touring and racing scene, in 2007 he rode an Excelsior Manxman in the Isle of Man TT circuit on the enlosed road during Manx Grand Prix. He frequently takes part in Hill Climb racing on bike or car, and attended FIVA World Rally in Greece on his 1928 BSA combination which he rode from Prague.
As an Executive Officer at the American Embassy, Prague in the 1990s he honed his driving and security skills as a special driver.
Jans personal interests include travel to undisturbed and remote places in South America and Africa. Recently he visited Venezuela, Guyana, and Brazilian table mountains on foot for three weeks through the savana and jungle. He also explored the Tunisian southern Sahara, Moldovia and Romania on an endurance motorcycle in the past couple of years.
He is married to Ivana and they have a daughter Kristyna(17) and son Martin (9).
