Philanthropist Edwin S. Marks, 76, Dies |

GREAT NECK, NEW YORK.- Banker and philanthropist Edwin Saul Marks, 76, died. He was an investment banker and supporter of Lincoln Center. Edwin S. Marks was the head of Carl Marks & Company. The firm was founded by his father in 1925 in New York. In 1961, Edwin S. Marks became its president. Edwin S. Marks was the vice chairman of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. He also was a supporter of the Juilliard School and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. He served on the business committee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He was also a life trustee of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System and established the Boas-Marks Biomedical Research Center. He was also a trustee of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Edwin Saul Marks was born June 3, 1926. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1949 and joined the family firm after Army service.
