TORONTO, ON.- Robert Farquharson, Chairman of the ROM Governors, congratulates Dianne Lister, President & Executive Director of the ROM Governors, for being acknowledged as one of Canada’s Top 25 Women of Influence and as one of Canada’s top 20 professional philanthropic fundraising executives for her contribution to the publication of Excellence in Fundraising Canada. This recognition highlights the leadership at the ROM and provides a valuable public platform to profile the world-class philanthropic work of the ROM Governors.

In September 2011, Dianne was named one of Canada’s Top 25 Women of Influence among some of Canada’s most talented women across the business, NGO, professional services, health and public sectors. Women of Influence Inc. is dedicated to the advancement of professional women. The organization produces a quarterly magazine, featuring inspirational stories on the triumphs and tribulations of women across Canada and around the globe, as well as events across the country.

“Dianne exemplifies how a passionate and dedicated leader can help engage and inspire the philanthropic community,” said Janet Carding, Director & CEO of the ROM. “We are fortunate to have her lead the ROM Governors during this exciting time in the Museum’s history. I am enjoying working with Dianne and the knowledgeable and visionary leaders on the Board of the ROM Governors as we redefine the ROM as Canada’s dynamic, relevant and engaging Museum for the 21st century.”

“We are excited to award Dianne Lister’s successful achievements and contributions to the fundraising sector and to highlight her as a Woman of Influence,” says Carolyn Lawrence, President and CEO, Women of Influence. “The Top 25 women were ranked from a pool of hundreds of accomplished Canadians—they are authentic leaders, extraordinary achievers and exceptional role models for other aspiring Canadian women.”

Dianne was also recognized as one of Canada’s top 20 professional philanthropic fundraising executives at the November 29th book launch for Excellence in Fundraising Canada—the first comprehensive fundraising textbook written by Canadians for Canadians. Having served as a member of the international Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Ethics Committee for nine years, Dianne contributed a chapter on ethics and ethical standards in the non-profit industry. Enhancing the body of knowledge in the Canadian fundraising sector, Excellence in Fundraising Canada is an essential resource for the next generation of fundraisers and a gift back to the philanthropic community as it continues to grow and mature.

In 2002, Dianne received global recognition as the first Canadian to be awarded the international Outstanding Fundraising Professional of the Year by AFP, and in 2004 was honoured by the Ontario Bar Association (Charitable and Not-for-Profit Section), with the John Hodgson Award for Outstanding Leadership. In 2006 she received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Trent University.
