PARIS.- Following the success of the Fair in Paris last year, Paris Photo will launch its first American edition in Los Angeles.

Jean-Daniel Compain, Senior Vice President Culture & Leisure division, Reed Expositions France, and Julien Frydman, Director of Paris Photo announced the creation of Paris Photo L.A.

The first edition of Paris Photo L.A will be held in Los Angeles from April 24 to 28, 2013 and will bring together a selection of 80 French and international galleries at the heart of the iconic site of the Studios at Paramount.

Over the last 16 years, Paris Photo has become a key player in the art world today gathering photography professionals, collectors, artists as well as a larger audience.

The 2011 edition held for the first time at the Grand Palais presented more than 135 exhibitors and attracted over 50,000 visitors. Based on this success, Reed Expositions has decided to move forward and chose Los Angeles as first site to expand Paris Photo abroad.

Los Angeles is now considered as an international art capital and definitely the most iconic city of image. It is home to major international cultural institutions and considered today as a hub for the entire art scene, artists, galleries and collectors.

In this unique creative environment, Los Angeles offers a real extremely promising context to affirm the fair's unique position internationally.

The Studios at Paramount, which are celebrating their 100th anniversary, were considered the ideal emblematic location to host this international extension of the fair. The studios have forged a significant part of the 20th century's movie industry references. In this unique environment on the West Coast, the fair will continue to question photography and its relationship to the image.

Paris Photo L.A will undertake to represent all the currents in photography, including the most avant-garde. The program will be defined in relationship with the cultural events of the city and its principal stakeholders (private collections, cultural institutions etc.)

The full program of Paris Photo L.A will be announced in Fall 2012.
