BERLIN.- The Finnish collector Timo Miettinen announced his second show at the
Salon Dahlmann, Berlin on Sunday, July 8. Following the opening exhibition The Moment I became a collector in April 2012, Miettinen presents a solo show of the Finnish artist Janne Räisänen at the bel-étage of Marburger Straße 3. In addition to Janne Räisänens works a selection of Timo and Iris Miettinens private collection is on show.
In his recent production, Janne Räisänen has been focusing on the relationship between paintings and drawings, aiming to exceed the boundaries between the different techniques. Confidently shifting from paper to canvas the artist explores possible intersections and correspondences between the two media, trying to reach immediacy and synthesis.
Janne Räisänen is renowned for his expressionist approach. His sources of inspiration are very diverse: in a playful and wild incursion into contemporary imagery, mixing up low and high culture, Räisänens references can be found in music, movies, literature, club and street culture and football. A high sense of grotesque and humour is characteristic for his works.
Janne Räisänen (born 1971 in Pudasjärvi, Finland) lives and works in Berlin. He studied at the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki and at the Städelschule in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. He had solo exhibitions in Los Angeles, Berlin, Helsinki and Paris and has participated in numerous international group exhibitions, including the Carnegie Art Award in 1999 and 2001, the Beijing Biennale 2005 and Based in Berlin 2011. Among his upcoming projects is a solo exhibition at Galerie Anhava, Helsinky.
The exhibition will be open from Friday July 13 to Sunday July 15, from 11 am to 6 pm and by appointment.
