SALZBURG.- The multimedia installation 'cold forest' by Tim White-Sobieski is a delve into the world of mysticism. The exhibition consists of various mediums, including 8 mirror polished stainless steel scultures, cibachrome photographs, LED light sculptures and projections. This current project is another example in artist’s oeuvre of ideas in light and motion, space and scale, content and its meaning through various art mediums.

Concentric light illumination is a key element in emphasizing every object within the installation. Every video and light source is precisely centered and concentrates on one sculpture at a time. The assembly of tree sculptures, which silhouettes sometime look like dragons or other mythical animals, is alike a crowd of people. Gathered together they are a unity but at the first place individuals with their own personalities and characters.

The photographs interweave themselves between the series of mirrored steel sculptures, reminding of journey through a forest, creating mystical almost sacral spaces with light, its reflections and shadows.

The assemblage forms a journey through a universe of the real and the supernatural and becomes an immersion into the magical world.

‚Cold Forest’ was previously shown in the State Museum in Vejle, Denmark.
