TEFAF Maastricht debut for six galleries
The European Fine Art Fair opens at the MECC (Maastricht Exhibition and Congress Centre) in the southern Netherlands from 15-24 March 2013.

HELVOIRT.- The six exhibitors for TEFAF Showcase, which gives younger dealers a one-off chance to take part in TEFAF Maastricht, the Fair that defines excellence in art, have been selected for 2013. The successful candidates have galleries in London, Paris and New York and represent a wide range of disciplines ranging from Chinese snuff bottles to contemporary art. They will exhibit in a special section when the 2013 edition of The European Fine Art Fair opens at the MECC (Maastricht Exhibition and Congress Centre) in the southern Netherlands from 15-24 March 2013.

TEFAF Showcase gives recently established galleries the opportunity to participate in TEFAF Maastricht for one year and to gain experience of being part of an international fine art event. The pre-eminence of TEFAF among international art fairs has led to a long waiting list for potential exhibitors and TEFAF Showcase enables some of those keen to take part to do so. It also introduces visitors to the Fair to some of the most interesting emerging galleries from around the world.

“TEFAF Showcase has become an important part of the Fair,” says Ben Janssens, Chairman of the Executive Committee of TEFAF, and a member of the selection panel, which consists of TEFAF members and independent art specialists. “This year we had more than 50 applicants, a substantial increase on last time, and the quality was so high that we could have filled the section twice over.”

Although Showcase dealers only take part in the Fair for one year, five have gone on to exhibit on a more permanent basis. Two of these, Jason Jacques from New York, who deals in ceramics and other works of art, and Didier Antiques from London, who specialize in artist’s jewels as well as silver and gold wares by leading modern designers and architects, will exhibit in the main part of TEFAF for the first time in 2013. Jacques was a Showcase exhibitor in 2009 and Didier Antiques in 2012.

The conditions for applicants for TEFAF Showcase are:
• The gallery or dealer should be operating at a high level in their field.
• The gallery or dealer should have international standing.
• The gallery or dealer must have been in business for at least three but no more than ten years.
• All works of art to be exhibited will be pre-vetted.

The selected Showcase candidates for the 2013 edition of TEFAF Maastricht are:
•Eric Delalande, Louvre des Antiquaires, 2 Place du Palais Royal/30 Allée Boulle, 75001 Paris, France. The gallery offers a range of antiques including marine and scientific pieces and Chinese objects and will show a cabinet of curiosities at TEFAF.
