PRANGINS.- The exhibition “Swiss Press Photo 12” at Château de Prangins presents exceptional photographs published in the Swiss press last year that have been awarded prizes by an international jury.

Organised by the Fondation Reinhardt von Graffenried, the exhibition showcases the pick of press photography in a range of categories, from portraits and everyday life to sport and the environment.

Mark Henley, winner of Swiss Press Photo 11, addresses a highly topical issue. Through a series of images devoted to the theme of banking, this British photographer now living in Geneva has peered into a little-known world: from a man running across Paradeplatz in Zurich, the heart of the Swiss financial sector, to shareholders at an annual general meeting and a bank director forced to resign, he has captured moments that, as he himself stresses, depict the intangible.

A further highlight is the presence of another Geneva-based photographer: Olivier Vogelsang, the winner in two of the five categories, most notably with his gripping images of the uprising in Libya.

The “Swiss Press Photo Lifetime Achievement Award” goes to one of the leading lights of Swiss photography: Robert Frank, born in Zurich in 1924 and now internationally renowned.

Don’t miss the parallel exhibition “C’est la vie – Swiss press photography since 1940”, from 15 November 2012 to 19 May 2013.

Special day
A chance for visitors to see the two parallel temporary exhibitions devoted to press photography in a different light, meet photographers and specialists, and take part in a variety of activities for young and old. Marc Henley, Swiss Press Photographer of the Year 2011, will be in attendance.

Sun 10 February 2013, 10.00 am-17.30 pm
Open day (free entry to museum and events)
