SINGAPORE.- The new Singapore Tyler Print Institute has opened in Singapore and presents an exhibition on the works by Frank Stella. Stella stated, "I don't think it's possible to be a controversial artist in Singapore. You wouldn't get to Singapore until you're not controversial." Thai Ker Liu, chairman of Singapore's National Arts Council, stated, "The government is trying to create a more vibrant arts scene that will nurture a more creative work force to deal with the new economy." Stella then stated, "There is no question that Singapore is interested in becoming more creative, and they're going to make a big effort."
