Photo Of Lennon’s Blood-stained Glasses Will Be Sold |
LONDON, ENGLAND.- A photograph taken by Yoko Ono that portrays Lennon’s blood-stained glasses (stained in blood from when he was shot dead) will be auctioned next week at Bonhams Auctioneers. The photograph is one of only six such prints. The work is expected to fetch around $15,000 when it is aucitoned on April 17. In 1980 John Lennon was killed by his fan Mark Chapman outside his New York apartment. The photo shows the singer’s famous round spectacles next to a glass of water and on a table set against the window of the couple’s apartment overlooking Manhattan. The photo was used also for the front cover of Yoko’s album Season of Glass. This print up for auction is owned by Johnnie Walker, a fund-raiser for Artist Residencies of Tokyo, or ART. All the proceeds will go to the organisation.
