LONDON.- Haunch of Venison has operated as a successful, independently managed subsidiary business since it was acquired by Christie’s in 2007. The focus for Haunch of Venison going forward will be exclusively on sales in the secondary market, and they will cease to represent artists following the close of current exhibitions in New York and London in March 2013.

It is proposed that the gallery will amalgamate with Christie’s Private Sales, combining their strengths in the secondary market to offer clients the benefit of their combined global reach and expertise.

These proposals mean that the gallery’s artist program will conclude in March 2013, with Jose Parla in London and "How to Tell the Future from the Past” in New York.

Ever since its inaugural exhibition of Rachel Whiteread in the fall 2002, Haunch of Venison has worked with some of the most dynamic and internationally recognized contemporary artists working today. Amongst them are Ahmed Alsoudani, Enrico Castellani, Mat Collishaw, Adrian Ghenie, Damien Hirst, Zhang Huan, Richard Long, Giuseppe Penone, Patricia Piccinini, James Rosenquist, Frank Stella, Keith Tyson, Gunther Uecker, Joana Vasconcelos, Bill Viola and Tom Wesselmann.

In addition to showing these exemplary artists’ work, the gallery also curated and organized internationally acclaimed group exhibitions such as The Mystery of Apparence and Castellani/Flavin/Judd/Uecker in London and Your History is Not Our History (artists in New York in the 1980’s), and the recent Afro/Burri/Fontana in New York.
