Frescoe of Christ Discovered in Rome |
|

|
ROME, ITALY.- The restoration of Michelangelo’s ’Moses’ sculpture has unveiled an exceptional frescoe of Christ dating from the 14th century. The frescoe was hidden from view by the sculpture and when it was moved for restoration, it became visible. The technicians that were doing the cleaning and conservation work on the Moses sculpture discovered the frescoe. The Moses sculpture was commissioned in 1505 for the tomb of pope Julius II. The frescoe measures 70 cm high by 50 cm wide. The work dates approximately from the thrid to the fourth decade of the 14th century.
