Fine Line Media to release Herb & Dorothy 50x50: A film by Megumi Sasaki
In the follow up to the award-winning documentary Herb & Dorothy, director Megumi Sasaki follows renowned art collectors Herb and Dorothy Vogel as they launch a national gift project with the National Gallery of Art.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA.- In 2008, legendary art collectors Herb and Dorothy Vogel announced that they would gift their world-class art collection to art museums in all fifty states. Herb & Dorothy 50x50 is a Fine Line Media release, runs for 85 minutes, is in English, and is not yet MPAA Rated.

In the follow up to the award-winning documentary Herb & Dorothy, director Megumi Sasaki follows renowned art collectors Herb and Dorothy Vogel as they launch a national gift project with the National Gallery of Art (NGA) in Washington DC that would give a total of 2,500 artworks to museums in all fifty states. Known and loved as a retired postal worker (Herb) and a librarian (Dorothy), the couple was able to build a world-class art collection despite their humble salaries. Though their collection is now worth millions of dollars, Herb and Dorothy decided not to sell a single piece; instead giving fifty works to one museum in every state. Having both worked their whole lives as civil servants, their wish was to give back to the people of the United States.

Megumi Sasaki began her career as a journalist for print media before joining NHK, Japan’s sole public broadcaster in 1992. She worked both in front and behind the camera, as an anchor, reporter and news director. In 2002, Megumi founded a production company, Fine Line Media, to streamline ongoing commitments to Japanese television while facilitating her new interest in feature documentary projects. Herb & Dorothy was the first of these projects. HERB & DOROTHY enjoyed both national and international success, winning numerous US film awards in 2008 and 2009. Megumi and a group of volunteers self-distributed the film in Japan and set the 2010 box office record for a documentary film in the country. Herb & Dorothy 50X50 is the highly anticipated follow-up and was funded through crowd sourcing in both the US and Japan.
