NEW YORK, NY.- Morrison Hotel Gallery is partnering exclusively with Antiquorum Auctioneers on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, delving deep into the photo archives of the gallery and offering one of the most complete photography auctions ever presented to the international community, presenting over 300 iconic images and unique items.

The auction will feature rare, signed photography from world-renowned photographers specializing in the documentation of music imagery of blues, jazz and rock n' roll. This auction includes the work of 44 acclaimed photographers represented by the Morrison Hotel Gallery featuring some of their most intimate and coveted works.

This unique auction promises to be a journey through the greatest music photographs of the 20th century capturing some of the most iconic and intimate moments in music history. Beginning with the truly great artforms of American music -- blues and jazz -- documented by such early photographic masters as Herman Leonard and Francis Wolff, and later documented by David Gahr in the 60s and in their later years by Joe Rosen and Paul Natkin - artists at the roots of American music – Eddie James ‘Son’ House, Howlin’ Wolf, Albert King, John Lee Hooker, to the jazz and swing of Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday to influencial composer Miles Davis and Rat Pack crooners to the rock revolution of the 60s and 70s as documented by the now legendary photographers who lived, toured with, and had special access to music icons including Henry Diltz, Joel Brodsky, Curt Gunther, Neal Preston, Ken Regan, Michael Joseph, Gered Mankowitz, Ethan Russell, Barrie Wentzell, Robert Whitaker, and Tom Wright - who became known for their brilliant images of The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, The Who and others. Intimate portraits of the great singer songwriters Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith, Neil Young as seen by the photographers Joel Bernstein, Timothy White, Lynn Goldsmith, Barrie Feinstein, Frank Stefanko, Norman Seeff, Al Satterwhite – those who had exclusive access and the trust of these artists and created amazing views into their lives. Photographs of the great soul, pop and reggae legends – James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Bob Marley and country legends Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. Photographs of new wave, hip hop, punk, grunge artists as seen through the lenses of Mick Rock, Janette Beckman and Josh Cheuse featuring music icons Queen, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, The Clash, Sex Pistols, RUN-DMC. The 80s and 90s documented in their own signature photographic styles -- Danny Clinch, Jesse Frohman, Catherine McGann, Valerie Jodoin Keaton, Colm Henry and Stephanie Pfriender Stylander -- portraits of Kurt Cobain, U2, Tupac Shakur, Keith Richards, Jack Johnson, Radiohead, Billie Jo Armstrong, Marilyn Manson, M.I.A. and more.

A special Artists as Photographers segment of the auction focuses on intimate moments as captured by the great artists themselves – Graham Nash of the Hollies and Crosby, Stills and Nash fly-on-the-wall photographs of Joni Mitchell, David Crosby and Neil Young; Chris Stein of Blondie inspired portraits of his muses Debbie Harry and Joan Jett; Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics creative takes of his co-creators Björk, Lou Reed with Laurie Anderson and Mick Jagger; and Julian Lennon’s portrait of his brother Sean Lennon and his favorite artists as well as his new box set of art from his Everything Changes album.

Also included are photographs by Pattie Boyd, one of the first celebrity super models and former wife of George Harrison and Eric Clapton; and legendary audio producer Eddie Kramer’s intimate photographs of Jimi Hendrix behind the scenes at Electric Lady Studios.

Collectors of autographed photographs will be interested to see a special series of photographs created by Bill Bernstein during Paul McCartney’s 2002 world tour, each one signed by Paul McCartney. And even a special tribute to the beauty of the guitar itself is included in the auction, a box set of portraits of master luthier’s Four Season’s guitars by Jonathan Singer.

Bidding will be available in person, on-line, by absentee bid and by phone to collectors and the general public on October 8. The entire collection will be on preview October 3-5th and 7th at the Antiquorum Gallery at 595 Madison Avenue.

This unique collaboration is a product of a long standing friendship and mutual admiration between Morrison Hotel Gallery co-owner and famed photographer Timothy White and Antiquorum’s President and CEO Evan Zimmermann. After contemplating a joint venture for years, the occasion to work together finally presented itself resulting in this one of a kind exhibition and photography auction. Featuring photographs of music icons throughout the past six decades with estimates ranging from $1,000 to $25,000, this is a rare opportunity to acquire exceptional fine art music photography at all levels and price points.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Morrison Hotel Gallery on a music-themed photography auction that will include exceptional photographs by world renowned photographers of music luminaries such as The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Jim Morrison and Bruce Springsteen,” said Evan Zimmermann, President & CEO, Antiquorum Auctioneers. “Antiquorum is pleased to continue to offer our clients innovative events at the Antiquorum Gallery designed to spread awareness of artistic pursuits across all fields.”
