BERLIN, GERMANY.- Architect I. M. Pei just presented his remodelling project for the German Historical Museum in Berlin. Pei deisgned for the Historical Museum, a curved glass building housing a spiral staircase that overlooks the main 18th century museum building. He will also place a glass roof structure over the courtyard beside the museum building. Pei stated, ’When I first became interested in Berlin in 1963, little did I know that I would be in the middle of German architectural and cultural renaissance in this city.’ The statement was made when the first stage of the remodelling was finished. The museum is scheduled to open in May 2001. Transport Minister Kurt Bodewig stated, ’This is where history will be made transparent.’
