LONDON.- Grosvenor Gallery announced the opening of Visions of India: Photographs by Derry Moore and Prarthana Modi. The exhibition is open to the public from 4 December – 20 December 2013. The exhibition consists of several photographs taken in India over a period of time showcasing the diversity of the landscape and architecture of the Indian subcontinent.

Derry Moore was educated at Eton then studied painting at Oskar Kokoschka's School of Seeing in Salzburg, Austria. After working briefly as a travel agent in New York City, he took photography lessons from British photographer Bill Brandt.

Moore began his professional career in 1973, with a commission from the American magazine Architectural Digest. He photographed The Princess of Wales, Prince William and Prince Harry in 1992. His portrait, taken at Kensington Palace, was used by the Princess on her Christmas cards for that year. Moore has also photographed Queen Elizabeth II, the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, Indira Gandhi, Ronald Reagan, David Bowie, Iman, Benedict Cumberbatch and Helena Bonham Carter, as well as many other personalities.

Moore is now a leading photographer of architectural interiors and an illustrator of books, and has had portraits published in Country Life and Vogue. He has thirty-seven portraits in the National Portrait Gallery's collection.

His work appears in such magazines as Town & Country, Vogue, Architectural Digest, Men's Vogue, Nest and Country Life. He has published over a dozen books, notably Evening Ragas documenting a changing India from 1976-1992, The Dream Come True (Great Houses of Los Angeles), An English Room, Inside the House of Lords, Rooms, Notting Hill, In House, Great Gardens of Italy with Monty Don and most recently An English Room.

Moore's photographs are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, The National Portrait Gallery, London, The Royal Collection and the Bibliotheque Nationale, as well as numerous private collections.

Prarthana Modi is a photographer based in New Delhi, India. She studied management and systems design after which she worked in the telecommunications industry for ten years before giving it up to pursue photography.

She started her formal training in photography with foundation courses from Central St. Martins School of Art and Design, London and then went on to study at The School of Black & White Photography, London. However, she is mostly self-taught and self-motivated.

Prarthana captures all her images in black & white and shoots on film only. She is a creative photographer, and sells her images as limited edition prints. Each print is hand printed on silver gelatin archival paper with selenium toning.

She has participated in several group as well as solo exhibitions including People for Animals, August 2005 at Hotel Maurya Sheraton, New Delhi, Harvest 2008 by Arushi Arts, August 2008 at Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, The Indecisive Moment, October 2009 at Open Palm Court, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, Still, September-October 2010 at Seagull Arts & Media Resource Centre, Kolkata, Memories of Another Day by Wonderwall, February 2011 at The Stainless gallery, New Delhi and many more.
