Sonce Alexander Gallery will open with a group exhibition by seven contemporary artists for her inaugural show “Variations on Transparency”.

He has participated in groups shows including at Blum & Poe, “Made in LA”, Hammer Museum, LA>
Mona Kuhn captures a dreamlike intimacy to her large-scale nude photographs; her photographs are in renowned collections such as The J. Paul Getty Museum, LACMA, and Musée de l’Elysée, Switzerland. She has had the honor of being selected by Robert Wilson to be part of “Living Rooms”, at Musee du Lourve, Paris, France (November 2013-Feburary 2014) as a showcase of Robert Wilson’s personal collection. Kuhn has had numerous solo exhibitions nationally and internationally including M+B Gallery, Los Angeles; Flowers Gallery, London; Brancolini Grimaldi, Florence; and Elkis Gallery, São Paulo. Christophe Leroux’s urban industrial influences are visible in his work including his metal wall sculptures, paintings, and works on paper. Leroux was invited to participate in a group show at MOCA and selected on several occasions to show at Salon des Realites Nouvelles, Paris, France. He has had many solo shows including; Musée Galliera, Paris, France. George Billis Gallery, Los Angeles, among others. Leroux’s work has been shown in fairs such as Miami Art Basel-SCOPE, etc. Leroux’s work is in collection all over the world including
the Jumex Coleccion-Mexico City.

Erin Morrison’s recent work takes an interest in the history of a regular studio practice; she has exhibited work across the United States, having solo shows at institutions such as Monarch Contemporary, Seattle and William Bennett Gallery in New York; and participated in group shows at the Seattle Art Museum and UCLA New Wight Gallery in Los Angeles. Morrison is expecting to receive her MFA from UCLA in 2014.

Katie Sinnott’s work involves an interaction with architectural space and its constant renewal; her work has been shown in galleries across Los Angeles, including recently at ACME Gallery, Cirrus Gallery, Night Gallery, and UCLA New Wight Gallery, Los Angeles. Sinnott was recently awarded the Dedalus Foundation of Master of Fine Arts Fellowship.

Marc Trujillo paints both urban and suburban, omnipresent places to North America. He received his MFA at Yale University School of Art. Trujillo has had numerous solo shows at both Hirschl & Adler in New York and Hackett-Freedman Gallery in San Francisco. He was the 2008 recipient of the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship.

Nicolau Vergueiro creates vibrant wall works and sculptures; he was represented by the David Kordansky Gallery for many years, has had solo shows in the Pasadena Museum of California Art, and Galerie Nathalie Obadia, Paris, France, and was included in the California Biennial at the Orange County Museum of Art.

Sonce started her career as a contemporary art dealer, eighteen years ago launching her first gallery, in the Broadway gallery complex in Santa Monica, exactly three doors to the right of Blum & Poe.

Her new gallery happens to be, again, exactly three doors to the right of Blum & Poe. With Sonce Alexander Gallery opening its doors in January 2014, the gallery will be the joining the ranks of the most established galleries in Los Angeles. Sonce Alexander will contribute her vision to the already pulsing art scene in Los Angeles.

Sonce was born and brought up in Paris, France. She has spent the past eighteen years as an art dealer, dividing her time between the United States and Europe. Sonce Alexander’s focus has always been contemporary art. Los Angeles and its contemporary art scene have prompted her to open a public space in the heart of Gallery Row on La Cienega.

Sonce Alexander has been very present in the Los Angeles art scene and has always believed Los Angeles to be a part of the global contemporary art platform.
