LONDON.- Today, Museum of London appeals for Londoners’ support in a bid to bring leading digital artist, Matt Pyke, to the museum. The museum has been shortlisted by Pyke as part of Connect10 – Culture 24’s annual competition for Museums at Night.

The only London-venue in the running to secure Pyke as a 2014 Connect10 contributor, the museum is calling on all Londoners to get behind it to win the public poll that opens today.

If the museum is victorious, Pyke will headline a digital late event at the museum in May, along with his latest interactive digital installation, ‘Voice Sculpture’. The event will form part of UK-wide culture and heritage initiative, Museums at Night.

Through microphones and huge projections, ‘Voice Sculpture’ will see visitors use their voices to shape weird and wonderful sculptures. Through this art installation, the museum hopes to capture today’s London, investigating how new technology embodies the spirit and energy of our ever-changing city.

Director of the Museum of London, Sharon Ament said: “London, we need you! We need your help in our quest to bring the fantastic Matt Pyke and his ‘Voice Sculpture’ to the museum as part of this year’s Museums at Night. Digital collecting and programming is a huge priority for us.Matt is an incredibly talented UK artist, pushing the boundaries of digital art. To have him present his installation at the museum – interacting and reacting to our visitors and our collections – would be the ultimate coup. Please get voting to help make this a reality!”

Showcasing Matt Pyke’s ‘Voice Sculpture’ would see the museum kick-start a bold new programme of digital projects. The late event would also allow the museum to record the way in which visitors react to Pyke’s installation, as part of its new and growing digital collection. Highlights from the collection charting the digital age we are living in include Tweets in response to the London 2012 Olympics and cycling videos filmed from cyclists' points of view using a head camera showing journeys made across the city, amongst other items, amongst other items.
