ST. PETERSBURG, FL.- Myers Fine Art & Antiques Auction Gallery will be offering a pair of early Scissor Chairs by Swiss architect and furniture designer Pierre Jeanneret. He was the cousin of Charles-Edouard Jeanneret, better known as Le Corbusier.

He graduated from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Geneva, and in 1921–2 on Le Corbusier’s recommendation he worked with Auguste Perret and Gustave Perret in Paris. In 1922 he went into partnership with his cousin, and in 1923 they built the Besnus Villa Vaucresson, near Paris.

In 1926 their partnership won them the First place design of the League of Nations building, and their plan for the new Punjab capital city in India, Chandigarh.

Around 1928 the pair collaborated with Charlotte Perriand to design a line of furniture that incorporated modern simplicity and industrial materials for the Villa Church outside of Paris. The line included the iconic chaise lounge (LC4) and the Fauteuil Grand Confort, petit modèle, both presented at the Salon d'Automne in 1929.

From 1937 to 1940 Jeanneret also worked with Charlotte Perriand, designing furniture in aluminum and wood, and the two formed a research team with Jean Prouvé to develop prefabricated housing. There he continued his investigations with Prouvé and André Masson, and together they built a number of prefabricated houses. Then, faced with the shortage of metal, he designed structural elements and furniture in wood. One such design was seen by none other than Hans and Florence Knoll while they toured Europe in 1948. They fell in love and licensed the design as the Model 92 Scissors Chair.
