NEW YORK, NY.- De Buck Gallery is presenting an exhibition of works by Berlin-based artist Ruby Anemic, entitled Slower Than God. The exhibition is on view from February 20 - March 26, 2014.

Ruby Anemic's work blurs the line between traditional artwork and the unexpected by presenting a slew of materials within the confines of the exhibition. Neon sculptures are juxtaposed with locks and machetes; even canvas, perhaps the most orthodox medium of all, is transformed into something revolutionary by being burned into an image in lieu of paint.

Anemic's interest in creating striking presentations of found materials in unusual combinations is greatly aligned with his larger views on art making. Utilizing these materials is an ideal way to explore what he calls "the moment of unknowing" inherent to his creative process. Much of his inspiration comes from outside the confines of the art world, and he often draws on and hijacks basic elements of daily life. All in all Anemic's work at large, and especially the pieces included in Slower Than God, embodies the result of the artist's processing and regurgitating common elements, both high and low, of the contemporary world.

Ruby Anemic was born in Berlin in 1975. In addition to his debut exhibition at De Buck Gallery, You Can Have It All, in 2012, he has also exhibited throughout Europe and the United States. Anemic's work is included in the Daimler Contemporary Collection (Berlin) and the Angel Collection of Contemporary Art (Tel Aviv), among other prominent collections. Ruby Anemic currently lives and works in Berlin.
