1,400-lot Heritage Estate Auction includes European paintings, fine jewelry

DALLAS, TX.- A strong selection of important European paintings, including Perroquet, 1958, by Bernard Buffet (est. $40,000+), and Saint-Jean Baptiste, circa 1931-39, by Georges Rouault (est. $40,000+) highlights 1,400+ lots in Heritage Auctions' June 21-22 Fine & Decorative Arts Including Estates Signature Auction in Dallas. The auction features a hand-picked selection of fine jewelry and decorative arts.

"The quality and variety of the European paintings in this auction is incredible," said Brian Roughton, Director of American and European Art. "Superb selections by Victor Gilbert, Edmond Jean De Pury, Giorgio de Chirico and Georges Rouault are just a few of the masters in this wide-ranging auction."

More than 200 works of important European art is led by a diverse group of French artists including important works by Victor Gabriel Gilbert, depicting his distinctive Parisian market scenes: Paris, Place de la République (est. $40,000+) and Le Pont Nuit (La Place Dauphin), circa 1890-95, (est. $30,000), which was recently discovered in a private collection in Arlington, Texas. Edouard-Léon Cortès' Rue de Lyon, Bastille and Guillaume Seignac's Cupid's Secret (both est. $40,000+ each) both appear on the market for the first time in more than a decade.

Additional European artists featured in the auction include Swiss artist Edmond Jean De Pury, whose At the Well, circa 1880, (est. $40,000+) epitomizes his favorite subject capturing the local colors of Rome, Capri, and Venice. Artworks such as The Contact by Juan Pablo Salinas Y Teruel (est. $30,000+) and Snowdon, from Above Llyn Llydow, North Wales, by Sidney Richard Percy (est. $15,000+) are also to be offered.

Among the special collections in the auction is a selection of Modern and Contemporary art from the Estate of Ray Frost Fleming, a Cranbrook Academy of Art graduate, notable studio artist, and owner of the Robert Kidd Gallery in Birmingham, Mich. A bronze by Marshall M. Fredericks titled Warrior Saint, from the Seven Saints and Sinners, 1939, (est. $10,000+) is on offer along with Beverly Mayeri's Gasping for Life (est. $1,500+).

An alluring and historic choice collection of photographs of Marilyn Monroe include Untitled (Legs Crossed), 1953, one of six images by Milton Greene, and Marilyn Monroe, from The Last Sitting, 1962 (est. $2,500+) by Bert Stern.

More than 200 pieces of estate jewelry are included in the auction, including a Gentlemen's Diamond Gold Ring, featuring a European-cut diamond (est. $4,000+), and a pair of Peridot Diamond White Gold Earrings by Eli Frei (est. $3,000+).

Additional highlights include, but are not limited by:

• Les Amis de Toujours (Friends Forever), a signature example of Demetre Chiparus' art deco sculpture (est. $50,000+).

• An important early work in oil by Surrealist Giorgio de Chirico, Cavallo in un paesaggio,(est. $15,000+).

• L'Aviation, circa 1925-30, by Frederic Focht, a stunning bronze with silver and gold patina (est. $10,000+).

• A George II-style Carved Mahogany Marble Top Specimen Table, with inset marble squares of varying color (est. $20,000+), a painted Victorian Aesthetic Movement cabinet (est. $8,000+) and several examples of early 20th century Continental furniture.

• A distinctive collection of Austrian cold painted bronze figures including works by Franz Xavier Bergman and Anton Chotka, circa 1890-1910, led by a large Tent-Form Lamp (est. $4,000+).

• More than 150 examples of Gorham silver, including mixed metals smoking objects and a Décor pattern silver flatware service for 12 (est. $800+).

• A collection of Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre Porcelain, led by a Fairy in a Cage pattern bowl by Daisy Makeig-Jones (est. $2,500+).
