FINE AND RARE WINES FROM THE COLLECTION OF JÖRG MÜLLER
Mr. Jörg Müller is a Michelin Star master chef from Germany. His wine journey started when he first tasted an outstanding mature Bordeaux. In 1979 Müller made his first Bordeaux en primeur purchase with the 1978 vintage, and ever since he has regularly bought fine and rare wines. Ten years ago the famous chef offered a small selection at a Christies London sale, achieving strong results. This season Christies is again to have been entrusted with selling part of his impressive collection.
All wines offered in this collection were bought upon release from renowned importers and stored under perfect conditions in a deep underground bunker on the island of Sylt in Northern Germany. The collection includes a remarkable range of fine and rare wines featuring Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Burgundies and many Finest First Growth Bordeaux ranging from the 1986 to 2011 vintages.
Also from Mr Müllers cellar is a pristine selection of Krug Collection from the 1964 to 1971. These are immensely complex wines and one of the best pairings with Japanese food.
CHÂTEAU DYQUEM COLLECTION 1855 to 1990
An exceptional collection of multiple vintages from Château dYquem will be highlighting the auction. Château dYquem was classified as the top ranking Château as a Premier Cru Supérieur in the 1855 classification and this remains indisputable today. Yquem remains the gold-standard for Sauternes and Barsac. The sheer complexity, richness and longevity of its wines continue to delight and enthuse global wine aficionados. This collection provides the collectors with an opportunity to acquire single bottles of Yquem from 1855 through to 1899 and then in decade lots from 1900 through to 1990.
CHINESE ZODIAC SIGN THEMED CATALOGUE NOTES
Promoting Western wine drinking culture amongst Asian connoisseurs, the theme of 12 Chinese zodiac signs will make its debut appearance in the Christie's Hong Kong wine auction catalogues for the Private Collection of Jörg Müller. The wine lots will be represented in terms of the Chinese zodiac signs and collectors will be able to find the Chinese zodiac sign with the year a wine bottle was produced, pushing the East Meets West concept further.
DECANTER ASIA WINE AWARDS 2014
Further highlights include the charity lots from the Decanter Asia Wines Awards 2014. Christies once again supports the Decanter Asia Wine Scholarship by auctioning mixed lots from the recent competition. The proceeds from these mixed lots will go to the development of future wine professionals in Asia. These lots are drawn from the submitted samples, containing bottles which range from Champagne, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhône to Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, North America and more.
