Dreweatts' Fine Jewellery, Silver, Watches and Pens sale achieves £1,200,000 in London
An impressive 30 carat sapphire and diamond ring by French Jeweller Jean Schlumberger brought a stunning end to the marathon sale. The last lot of the day flew past its pre-sale estimate, eventually selling for £117,800 to applause in the room.

LONDON.- Dreweatts achieved exceptional results in a day of luxury sales at their London saleroom, with prices totalling over £1 million. Fierce International bidding saw stunning and iconic jewels by the master jewellers and high jewellery ateliers of the 20th Century including Bulgari, Graff and Jean Schlumberger, steal the show and attain the top prices.

James Nicholson, International Head of Jewellery & Watches at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions said: “Iconic jewels continue to fire the imagination of international buyers, and the strength of the market for the finest pieces remains fiercely contested. It was a huge privilege to be able to privately source the sale from UK and Continental European collections and vendors.”

Schlumberger’s jewels are regarded as some of the finest post war jewellery design and, as proved with this sale, continue to be immensely popular with jewellery collectors today [Lot 723].

A turquoise and white enamel ‘Serpenti’ watch by Bulgari was another highly desirable piece with 12 telephone bidders competing against the internet and collectors in the room. The iconic watch, a favourite of actress Elizabeth Taylor, sold for £84,320 [Lot 722].

The Fine Jewellery, Silver, Watches and Pens sale was held at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions’ saleroom in London’s Mayfair on Friday 27th November.
