NEW YORK, NY.- Taking the spotlight
Capo Auction Fine Art and Antiques Holiday Auction on Saturday, December 13th will be the just recently made public nude art photographs of actress/Dancing with the Stars host Brooke Burke, taken by German art photographer Andre Plessel. These art photographs caused much controversy in the media when they were first made public just six weeks ago. They were originally taken in 1996 in an abandoned gas station on Route 66 in the California desert for a German auto parts catalogue.
Capo Auction is expanding more and more into the contemporary art and modern photography markets, also offering an early Andre Plessel photograph of supermodel Karolina Kurkova and one of his unique color processed pieces.
Capo Auction will also feature a selection of other contemporary art including the Andy Warhol (American, 1928-1987) screen print called Lamentation, on Lenox Museum Board, 1986. Signed and numbered 4/100 (verso). Sheet size 36 x 36 inches. (Estimated value $30-35,000) along with four Andre Plessel (German/American, 20th/21st Century) silver gelatin photographs that are all 24 inches by 20 inches in sheet size.
The two black & white nude images of Brooke Burke are Desert Woman No. 2, Route 66, LA 1996, silver gelatin print, New York Series, 2014, that is signed, dated and numbered 1/2 (verso), matted and framed, and Tire Nude, Route 66, LA 1996 silver gelatin print, New York Series, 2014, that is signed, dated and numbered 1/2 (verso). Both are estimated at $4-5,000.
They also have the Andre Plessel black & white photograph of Karolina Kurkova, called Taste, Karolina Kurkova, NYC 1998, silver gelatin print, New York Series, 2014, that is signed, dated and numbered 1/1 (verso), estimated at $3-4,000 and one of Plessels unique color processed works called She, Paris 1995, pigment print on archival rag paper, New York Series, 2014, which is also signed, dated, numbered 1/1 (verso), matted and framed.
