Kirsty formerly was the managing director of the western art department for Heritage Auctions.

CORNING, NY.- The board of directors and staff of The Rockwell Museum announced that Kirsty Buchanan has joined The Rockwell team in Corning, NY, as Curator of Collections. Kirsty Buchanan joined The Rockwell Museum in January 2015, bringing with her fourteen years of experience in fine arts management. Kirsty will oversee the curatorial department and associated responsibilities including the arrangement, cataloguing, exhibition, and maintenance of collections. Additionally, Kirsty will participate in both short and long-term planning for The Rockwell and will provide leadership through specialized knowledge of American art.

“Kirsty comes to us from Dallas, TX and brings with her an infectious passion for American art and the great artists of our time,” says Kristin A. Swain, Executive Director of The Rockwell Museum.

“Her background in American art will help bring national recognition to the importance of The Rockwell collection. We look forward to Kirsty’s efforts to strengthen our core collection and her interest in developing exhibitions based on a narrative of art about America and the American experience. Her strong background in American art will serve her well in supporting our focus on dynamic and imaginative programming for people of all ages,” Swain continues.

Kirsty formerly was the managing director of the western art department for Heritage Auctions. While there she co-directed the largest fine art auction in the company's history and under her guidance, the department established new world auction records for a variety of western and American artists.

In the Dallas arts community, Kirsty has been a guest lecturer for the Dallas Museum of Art, the Meadows Museum, and served as an inaugural member of the Ambassador Council for the Amon Carter Museum of American Art.

Kirsty has juried several exhibitions of contemporary Texas art throughout the southwest.

Kirsty earned her Masters of Arts in art history from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. During her studies at SMU, she was recognized as a Meadows Artistic Scholar, a Comini Grant Recipient, and a Meadows Grant Recipient.”
