MIAMI, FLA.- Art Wynwood announces Grela Orihuela as the new director of the fair, which returns for its fourth year as Miamis most renowned art fair beyond Art Week, during the citys ultimate destination weekend from February 12-16.
Orihuela has been a key member of the Art Miami LLC family since her independent curation of a major 8-screen video project during Art Wynwoods inaugural year. Since then, Grela has taken on the role of Special Projects Manager and has been in charge of Art Miami LLCs Exhibitor Relations department.
Grela's transition into the role of Fair Director is a fantastic opportunity for our art fair, participating galleries and the Wynwood Art District" says Nick Korniloff, Executive VP of Art Miami LLC. Her energy, experience and relationships within the art world will elevate the fair to a new level.
Its an exhilarating opportunity, Orihuela adds, to grow and develop Nicks vision of a world-class cutting-edge fair. My inspiration is this citys totally unique art community that thrives on both local brilliance and global participation.
Grelas art exhibition experience ranges from video curation programs at NADA Hudson, NADA Miami Beach, Vanity Projects in NYC, Arte Americas and the Miami Beach Cinemathique, to curating and producing the 32-artist Home: Dream Home concept installation show at Praxis International Art in Wynwood in 2011. Grela co-founded Miami-based Wet Heat Project in 2007, an art-centric special event and documentary film company which has produced more than 50 shorts and two feature films on artists at work.
Orihuela is a graduate of NYUs film school with more than 20 years of experience producing large-scale media and corporate events. She has worked with celebrated performers like Tony Bennett, Celine Dion and Julio Iglesias. Her diverse experience includes producing news segments at WABC, fashion films and events at Bloomingdales, programming executive at Telemundo television network and coordinating for legendary rock n' roll impresario Bill Graham on special music events and benefit concerts.
