GLENS FALLS, NY.- Charles A. Guerin has accepted a new position as Executive Director of the Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover, Delaware, and will leave his position as Director of
The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls on May 1, 2015.
Mr. Guerin joined The Hyde two years ago and has been instrumental in expanding its permanent collection through major gifts of art, including an extensive collection of modern American art; a major collection of American photography, and a collection of 19th century French etchings, engravings, lithographs, woodcuts and books. He has championed The Hydes efforts to reach out in service to the community, with programs focused on children, families and senior citizens.
Charles decision was unanticipated but eminently understandable: The move to Delaware presents an opportunity for Charles and his wife Katherine to be much closer to family members in Maryland, said Tenée Rehm Casaccio, chair of The Hydes Board of Trustees. We are grateful to Charles for his leadership and service, and we wish the Guerins all the best as they embark on new adventures.
Ms. Casaccio said The Hyde Board of Trustees has begun a search for a new director.
I have enjoyed my time at The Hyde Collection, working with its extraordinary staff, dedicated board and outstanding volunteers, Mr. Guerin said. The Hyde is a gem of an institution and I am honored to have been its director and to have made a contribution to its success. I will miss the congenial atmosphere of its historic surroundings, and its truly remarkable collections. Glens Falls and Queensbury have a priceless asset in The Hyde Collection, an asset that helps make this community such a unique and special place.
