SAO PAULO.- SP-ARTE, the leading Latin American art fair, will present special projects from the world’s leading galleries in its parallel sections on 2015: Solo, Open Plan and Showcase. These galleries will add to the galleries participating on the main section of the fair.

The Solo section, in its second edition is a curated space that reflects the vision of its two curators, Rodrigo Moura and María Inés Rodriguéz. Each gallery will be presenting a single artist; the works selected address themes of politics, history, fiction, and conceptualism among other issues, many of them specifically focus on Latin America.

This section is of special interest for visitors as it features an assortment of emerging galleries. This year Showcase will present historical Brazilian artists, such as pop artist Carlos Vergara and conceptual artist Mira Schendel juxtaposed with works by younger artists including Ariel Reichman (South Africa) as well as mid-career artists such as Rosemberg Sandoval (Colombia).

The galleries present in this section are Blau Projects (Brazil), D-Concept (Brazil), FASS (Brazil), Feroz Galerie (Germany), Fotospot (Brazil), Galeria Inox (Brazil), Galeria Mezanino (Brazil), Galeria Pilar (Brazil), Galeria Superficie (Brazil), Gallery Nosco / Frameless (UK), Isabel Aninat (Chile), Klemm’s (Germany), Myrine Vlavianos Arte Contemporânea (Brazil), Plan B (Germany), Portas Vilaseca Galeria (Brazil), PSM (Germany), Referência Galeria de Arte (Brazil), Talcual Gallery (Mexico).

Highlights include Sarah Thornton, author of 7 days in the art world, as well as Thomas Galbreith, managing director of Paddle8, the online auction start-up.

SP-Arte is a platform within the international art scene, bringing together galleries, institutions and art professionals for a unique experience in São Paulo. As the cultural capital of the country, with the most prestigious museums, foundations and galleries, São Paulo will host the most remarkable exhibitions and art events to coincide with SP-ARTE. Some events include exhibitions of world renowned artists, like Marina Abromovic at Sesc Pompeia; José Resende, Nelson Fenix, and Sean Scully at Pinacoteca de Estado de São Paulo; and the artist collective Under the Same Sun, curated by Pablo Leon de la Barra at Museu de Arte Moderna (MAM SP).
