Van Gogh Museum Open till 22.00

AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS.- From 27 February 2004 the Van Gogh Museum will remain open until 22.00 (instead of 18.00) every Friday. This extension of opening hours is part of a campaign by the museum and its promoting partner Rabobank to enable as wide as possible an audience to visit the museum. With this service, the Van Gogh Museum hopes to attract new visitors, as well as regulars. Late Friday opening is made possible by Rabobank.

As well as the permanent collection and the temporary shows in the exhibition wing, Friday evenings will also feature an exciting programme of lectures, concerts, films etc, connected with the museum’s various activities. Other facilities, such as the museum restaurant and individual audiotours, will also be available on these evenings.

Tickets for Friday evening viewing will be at the normal price of € 9.- for adults. Visitors with Rabobank Europas or Museumkaart NS will pay € 4.50. In addition, Rabobank Europas holders may also introduce a guest free of charge on Friday evenings (between 18.00 and 22.00). Tickets for visitors aged 13 to 17 are priced at € 2.50. Tickets for Museumkaart holders and children under 12 are free.

The first Friday evening opening coincides with the start of a major exhibition of the work of Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828-1882), one of the founders of the British Pre-Raphaelite movement. This is the first retrospective of this multi-talented artist in the Netherlands.

Partnership Van Gogh Museum – Rabobank - From 2003 to 2007 Rabobank is ’promoting partner’ of the Van Gogh Museum and will aid in the realisation of a number of special exhibitions. Rabobank is also the main sponsor of several of these shows. For more information on Rabobank visit www.rabobank.nl
