GERONA, SPAIN.- The Baron Hans Heinrich Von Thyssen died in his home at Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Gerona. The family made a statement regarding the death of the baron: "With deep pain the Thyssen-Bornemisza family and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Foundation inform of the death of Baron Hans Heinrich Thysssen, which took place at 1:00 am of this day at his home in Sant Feliu de Guíxols of natural causes. The baron suffered a cardiorespiratory insufficience which provoked an irreversible heart attack. The remains of Baron Thyssen will be taken to Germany, together with his family, where he will be buried at the family’s tomb at the Schloss Landsberg Castle." The baron is a descendant of one of the richest families in Germany and is the owner of the greatest private art collection of the world. The collection has more than 1,500 art works and the greatest part is at the Thyssen Museum. The baron died at the age of 81. Hans Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza Kaszon was born in Scheveningen, near the Hague, Netherlands on April 13, 1921.
