PHILADELPHIA, PA.- Bridgette Mayer Gallery announced the appointment of new Gallery Director Meredith Rockwell.
Rockwell comes to Philadelphia from Manhattan, where for the past five years she has held the position of Director of Sales at Bruce Silverstein Gallery. Her focus has been on vintage and contemporary photography, working closely with a roster of living artists and artist estates to place work in major collections. Prior to moving to New York, she spent five years working as an art consultant in Boston, advising corporate and private collections on artwork acquisitions. She brings more than 10 years of experience in sales, marketing, and gallery management.
In her role at Bridgette Mayer Gallery, Rockwell will bring her extensive operational, marketing, client work and sales experience to the gallery program of fifteen represented artists and help to define collections that are relevant to the artists' works as well as opportunities nationally and internationally for the gallery artists.
"Meredith Rockwell will bring her personal energy, experience and a unique perspective coming from the gallery world in New York and the consulting world in Boston to my business. I am thrilled to have her join the team. At a time when my business is expanding rapidly and with the announcement of my art advisory business (Bridgette Mayer Art Advisors, www.bridgettemayerartadvisors.com ) growing to the West Coast, I am so pleased that the timing of a Director is so perfectly poised for this moment," says Gallery Owner Bridgette Mayer.
"In addition, the gallery has made a foray into public art projects and will be announcing a major project with Temple University along with two major hospitality projects coming up and this is the perfect time for the addition of a seasoned Director to work side by side with me as we grow into this year and 2016. I am very excited to see what we create this year and how we grow the vision of the gallery and of the gallery artists."
Meredith Rockwell states, "I am thrilled to join Bridgette and her team. I have great respect for the gallery's program and artists, and am looking forward to continuing its innovative approach and propelling it forward in this next stage. I have long admired Philadelphia's arts community, and am excited to become a part of it."
