ART 20 Returns to the Park Avenue Armory

NEW YORK.- ART 20 is not a survey course. ART 20 is not a "Greatest Hits" album. Art 20 IS a city block filled with much of the challenge, the history, and the beauty of the century past. 65 international galleries will gather this autumn to showcase fine  works from the 1900ís to today. A major canvas, a small gem of a watercolor, the tactile pleasures of a bronze sculpture; ART 20 will offer delightful surprises in every booth.

From November 21-24th, exhibitors from the United States, Europe, Canada and Latin America will fill the Park Avenue Armory with a spectacular range of art. Collectors will have an opportunity to examine and purchase art in the context of the completed century and from galleries of international repute. Among those exhibiting are James Goodman Gallery, Rachel Adler Gallery, Maxwell Davidson Gallery, Charles Cowles Gallery, Forum Gallery, Nancy Hoffman Gallery, O’Hara Gallery, Kennedy Galleries, Goedhuis Contemporary, Galerie Fabien Boulakia, Galerie Thomas and Tasende Gallery.

Sanford Smith, founder of ART 20, notes, "The 20th Century was one of the most influential in the history of art and that energy is felt in even the smallest, most contemplative work. I’m not surprised that in only its second year, Art 20 has quickly established itself as the major art fair of the Fall season in New York."

We are pleased to announce that The Children’s Museum of Manhattan will be the beneficiary for the ART 20 gala kick-off on the evening of November 20th. The mission of the Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) is to inspire children and their families to learn about themselves and our culturally diverse world through a unique educational approach combining: the Power of family learning; the Power of play; the Power of authentic art, artifacts, and literature; the Power of the diverse New York audience. CMOM is a private, not-for-profit institution located in the Tisch Building at 212 West 83rd Street. For more information call 212-721-1234 x 235.

The venue, New York’s Park Avenue Armory, is the most venerable and sought after site for fairs in the United States. The November dates are sure to command superb attendance, as it is the month for the most important modern and contemporary auctions as well as dazzling gallery exhibitions and blockbuster museum openings. ART 20 is the perfect vehicle for both American and European dealers to participate in the most active arena in the most active city in the world.

For a quarter of a century, Sanford L. Smith & Associates have been the first to spot collecting trends and bring them to the attention of the art-buying public. Along with the Fall Antiques Show, the first all Americana show, they created Modernism, Works on Paper, and the Outsider Art Fair. In addition they act as Manager for the Art Dealers Association of America’s prestigious Art Show and manage The Print Fair for the International Fine Print Dealers Association as well as The New York Antiquarian Book Fair for the ABAA.
