NEW YORK, NY.- This late summer exhibition explores the diversity and evolving landscape of the Big Apple, from street scenes to architectural studies, through a survey of both vintage and modern views.

Photographs from the 1920's – 1960's of New York include scenes of kids playing, some refreshing themselves in water spraying from fire hydrants, some skating down sidewalks, playing cards, fishing, shoe shining, etc.

Summer scenes from Coney Island are included that portray adults and kids crowded on a beach, with hundreds of sunbathers taking time out. This city beach provided carnival rides, the famous Nathan's Hot Dogs stand, horse rides, Fortune tellers and more. Both Morris Engel and Harold Feinstein captured the energy of Coney Island like no others. Engel even produced a film with his wife, Ruth Orkin, called "The Little Fugitive." The story is about a boy who runs away from home to Coney Island.

Of course, also included in this exhibition are the captivating and iconic images of New York by John Albok. A master at documenting everyday life, John Albok's passion and gentle spirit captures the rich life of a majestic city.

Michael Kenna, a contemporary artist, provides us with stellar images of New York architecture. His studies of the enigmatic Brooklyn Bridge, the Chrysler Building, and Empire State building reflect his high regard for great design and engineering that dictate a great city.

This exhibition coincides with PDNB's third Biennial FUN SHOW!, that opened recently. New Items and reduced pricing have added to the FUN SHOW! for the opening of the New York exhibition.

Featured Artists: John Albok • Don Donaghy • Morris Engel • Harold Feinstein • Ralph Gibson • Paul Greenberg • Michael Kenna • George Krause • Nickolas Muray • Walter Rosenblum
