CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA.- The Minister for the Arts and Sport, Senator Rod Kemp, today announced the appointment of Dr Tim Duncan to the Council of the National Museum of Australia (NMA).

’Dr Duncan’s extensive experience as a journalist, author and communications professional brings an exciting new dimension to the Council,’ Senator Kemp said.

Dr Duncan has been a journalist with The Australian newspaper, Business Review Weekly and The Bulletin, is currently a senior consultant with Hinton & Associates, and brings a wealth of corporate experience from his previous position as Head of Australian External Affairs with Rio Tinto.

He is also the co-author of Australia and Argentina: On Parallel Paths (1985), a contributor to periodic journals and a member of the Council of Australia Latin American Relations. Dr Duncan completed his Ph.D. in Economic History at the University of Melbourne.

’The breadth of Dr Duncan’s experience will be a valuable asset to the Council of the National Museum of Australia and I welcome his appointment.’

The NMA is an agency of the Australian Government. Its purpose is to research Australian history, develop and maintain a national collection of historical material, create exhibitions and programs that explore our heritage and history, and to be accessible to all Australians.
