Designer jewelry and luxury accessory event brings $4.5 million at Heritage Auctions

DALLAS, TX.- Bidders on the hunt for big diamonds and the world’s most exclusive luxury handbags spent more than $4.5+ million in Heritage Auctions’ autumn, two-day offering of Contemporary Designer Jewels and Luxury Accessories. Top lot honors in the Sept. 28-29 auctions were claimed by a dazzling 4.64 carat Diamond, Platinum, White Gold Ring, which sold for $55,000, and a Hermès Limited Edition 35cm So Black Calf Box Leather Birkin Bag with PVD Hardware, which sold for $52,500, against a $15,000 estimate.

“Our autumn sales always attract collectors seeking new and interesting fashion statements for the season,” said Jill Burgum, Senior Director of Fine Jewelry at Heritage Auctions. “Following successful previews in New York, Dallas, and Beverly Hills, our clients were pleased with the diversity and top examples that can only be found at Heritage.”

The Sept. 28 Contemporary Designer Jewels Auction offered examples by the most notable brand name jewelry makers in history, including Van Cleef & Arples, as an 18.35 total carat weight Diamond, Platinum Necklace by the firm sold for $53,750. A 16.13 total carat weight Diamond, Platinum, White Gold Bracelet by Harry Winston sold for $45,000. A pair of elegant Diamond, White Gold Earrings by Cartier realized $40,700 and a timeless pair of Sapphire, Diamond, White Gold Earrings by Chanel brought $40,000.

Signature pieces by designer David Webb include a pair of Emerald, Ruby, Diamond, Cultured Pearl, Gold Earrings, which sold for $37,500, and a distinctive Diamond, Emerald, Enamel, Platinum, Gold Bracelet in the form of a tiger, which sold for $32,500, against an $8,000 estimate.

“This auction celebrated the creative minds driving today’s jewelry designs,” Burgum said. “Bidders responded to elegant colorful designs this season and we noticed intense interest in bracelets of high design.”

The Sept. 29 Autumn Luxury Accessories Auction offered top shelf Hermès as a Limited Edition 35cm So Black Calf Box Leather Retourne Kelly Bag with PVD Hardware sold for $40,000 and an Hermès 20cm Shiny Blue Saphir Alligator Mini Sellier Kelly Bag with Gold Hardware sold for $37,500.

Classic Birkins available included a Hermès 35cm Matte Black Porosus Crocodile Birkin Bag with Gold Hardware, for $37,500 and an Hermès 35cm Shiny Amethyst Porosus Crocodile Birkin Bag with Palladium Hardware, in excellent condition, for $35,000.

Kelly Bags saw intense interest as a fun, Hermès Limited Edition 35cm Natural Barenia Leather & Wicker Picnic Kelly Bag with Palladium Hardware sold for $32,500 and an Hermès 25cm Blue Brighton Lizard Sellier Kelly Bag with Palladium Hardware also ended at $32,500.

Additional highlights include:

• A Multi-Color Sapphire, White Gold Necklace by J. E. Caldwell: Realized: $30,000.

• A Multi-Stone, Gold Bracelet by Angela Cummings for Tiffany & Co.: Realized: $30,000.

• An Hermès Shiny Blue Electric Nilo Crocodile Constance Elan Bag with Palladium Hardware: Realized: $20,000.
