By juxtaposing historical pieces against contemporary realist works, this special collection of truly masterful paintings and renderings demonstrates the important influence Realism has had on America - not only by documenting historical scenes and subjects from a time before photography was widely used but by showing how Realism continues to influence some of worlds greatest painters today. Though Realisms traditional role may have changed since the advent of photography this important genre will never fall out of favor. Artists will always continue to paint what they see in personal ways that clearly and cleverly, put their own spin on a subject, landscape or street scene - making each painting distinctive and unique. Realist paintings are always defined by each artists individual style and technical skill, and Realism enthusiasts understand and appreciate this.
