PARIS.- The 42nd
FIAC is be held in Paris from October, Thursday 22nd to October, Sunday 25th, 2015 in the Grand Palais.
The fair presents some 170 galleries from 22 countries. The Nave, the Salon dhonneur and the South-East Gallery on the first floor of the Grand Palais house galleries specializing in modern and contemporary art. The South and South-West Galleries, located upstairs, host contemporary and emerging art galleries as well as the Lafayette Sector. The Lafayette Sector, a program launched in 2009 by FIAC and the Groupe Galeries Lafayette, Official Sponsor, underlines their joint desire to provide tangible support to the actors of the emerging art scene in its international dimension.
The Lafayette Sector provides financial support to 10 French and international galleries presenting emerging artists. The 2015 jury was formed by Guillaume Houzé (Director of Patronage of the Groupe Galeries Lafayette), Florence Bonnefous (Air de Paris, Paris), François Quintin (Fondation d'entreprise Galeries Lafayette), María Inés Rodríguez (CAPC / musée d'art contemporain, Bordeaux) and Francesco Stocchi (Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam).
Never before FIAC has presented such an outstanding selection of renowned French and international galleries.
FIAC underlines the defining principles of its identity: the undisputed quality of its exhibitors and the works on view, the unrivalled beauty and prestige of its venues located in the heart of Paris and its signature Hors les Murs programs.
In association with the Domaine National du Louvre et des Tuileries, an ensemble of outdoor works are being presented in the Tuileries Garden.
An outdoor exhibition focusing on themes such as nature, biodiversity and the environment is being held in the Jardin des Plantes and the Museum national d'Histoire naturelle. This year, on the occasion of COP21 the United Nations Climate Change Conference, hosted by France, artworks will be exhibited until mid-december 2015.
In collaboration with the Comité Vendôme, monumental outdoor sculptures or installations are being presented on the prestigious Place Vendôme.
Underscoring FIACs presence in venues situated along the Seine river and in collaboration with the City of Paris, outdoor works have been installed along the left bank riverside promenade les Berges de Seine between the Pont Alexandre III and the Pont Léopold Sédar Senghor. This year, in collaboration with Radio France, sound installations are being exhibited in the Maison de la Radio.
Artists films are being presented at the Auditorium of the Grand Palais and - in association with the Fondation d'entreprise Ricard - the Cinéphémère installed in the Tuileries Gardens.
FIAC pursues its ongoing programs of artists' performances, Ouvertures/Openings, conceived and produced in collaboration with the Auditorium of the Louvre Museum, and In Process, a performance programme dedicated to the emergent contemporary art scene and curated by Mehdi Brit and Blanche de Lestrange.
Lastly, FIAC, in association with the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and the Maison de la Poésie, presents Voices of Urgency, a cycle of seminars and discussions relating to poetry and the social sciences, held at the Chapelle des Petits-Augustins and conceived by Alex Cecchetti.
