MONACO.- Following the success of the sales this July, which for the third year running realised over 10 M / 11 M$,
Artcurial will for the first time set up home in Monaco this winter, between 18 and 20 January 2016. This winter season of sales will take place at the Yacht Club, and be represented by the specialist fields dedicated to highly luxurious collectibles (fine jewellery, collectors watches and Hermès Vintage) that have contributed to Artcurials successful ten years in the Principality.
To launch this new winter season, in addition to these specialities, Artcurial will present two exceptional sales. The Wine and Spirits department, market leader in France, has assembled an outstanding catalogue of Champagnes and rare spirits. These exceptional items, such as the bottle of Royal Salute estimated at 180 000 / 198 000 $, will attract the attention of both French and international collectors, in the sale with a festive theme resonating with the start of the social season in Monaco. Moreover, in tribute to the 40th anniversary of the renowned Festival International du Cirque de Monte-Carlo, taking place simultaneously, Artcurial will offer a unique collection of objects linked to the circus, coming from the Fratellini family of clowns.
FINE JEWELLERY
For this new prestigious sale, the Jewellery department at Artcurial will offer a rivière necklace from the 1950s, in platinum and white gold decorated with baguette and brilliant-cut diamonds (estimate : 22 000 25 000 / 24 200 27 500 $), and also a platinum and 18-carat white gold bracelet, set with baguette, navette and brilliant-cut diamonds (estimate : 30 000 35 000 / 33 000 38 500 ).
Amongst the exceptional stones in the sale will be a pink diamond (50 000 - 70 000 / 55 000 77 000 $) and a blue diamond (70 000 - 80 000 / 77 000 88 000 $). A selection of Art Deco jewellery and pieces by the biggest names from the Place Vendôme will also be presented in the two Jewellery sales.
WATCHES
Star of watch sales, Rolex will be represented by a stunning Day-Date Stella Blue in yellow gold, a superb rare Daytona Big Red chronograph with black « Sigma » face and 3 silver dials (estimate : 20 000 - 25 000 / 22 000 - 27 500 $) and a magnificent diving watch Sea Dweller Double Rouge « Mark IV ». (Estimate : 22 000 - 25 000 / 24 000 - 27 500 $)
Cartier will also feature, with a beautiful ladies watch Tortue in 18-carat white gold and bezel set with diamonds, estimated at 25 000 35 000 / 27 500 38 500 $. There will also be an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak « Pink Gold » and a white gold bracelet watch by Blancpain, Astronomique, numbered 6/260
HERMES VINTAGE
Since 2005, the Hermès vintage sales established by Artcurial have become an international reference. Year on year, the auction house reinforces its position as market leader in this domaine.
The annual sale in Monaco is the place to find the exceptional item, enticing « fashionistas » and collectors from across the globe. They will discover around one hundred hand-picked lots : special orders, unique pieces and iconic models in rare leathers and exotic skins. Of note will be a magnificent «Kelly» bag in pink suede (estimate : 6 000 - 8 000 / 6 600 8 800 $) and a « Constance » bag in red Mysore goatskin (estimate : 6 000 - 8 000 / 6 600 8 800 $).
HOMAGE TO THE CIRCUS: FRATELLINI COLLECTION
To mark the 40th anniversary of the Festival International du Cirque de Monte-Carlo, these sales will be completed by a special sale of a hundred lots paying tribute to the renowned Fratellini family. Highlights include a selection of paintings, drawings and prints of the Fratellini clowns, for the most part signed by artists such as Joseph Faverot, Jules Monge, Pierre Lacroix
Photographic documents showing the Fratellinis, the Pierrots de Wilette, the Cirque dHiver and Cirque Medrano are included, as well as rare decorative and promotional objects in the likeness of the three clowns, and personal items such as costumes and accessories for performances. .
