Tiffany, Lalique & art glass rarities surpass $1.2 million at Heritage Auctions

DALLAS, TX.- An exceptional Tiffany Studios Favrile Glass Floriform Vase, circa 1900-1920 and engraved 04325, brought $48,750 in Heritage Auctions' $1.2+ million Tiffany, Lalique & Art Glass auction in Dallas. Floor bidders claimed the top lots at the Nov. 23 auction as Tiffany lighting sold above estimate and Rene Lalique rarities were claimed by collectors in the Middle East.

"Auction results for top market artworks by Rene Lalique remain strong and I was pleased to see collectors recognize this auction's selection of particularly rare designs," said Nick Dawes, Vice President of Special Collections at Heritage. "Consignors are very happy."

A unique Tiffany Opalescent Favrile Glass and Bronze Fire Screen, circa 1905 and stamped TIFFANY STUDIOS, NEW YORK, sold to the phone for $75,000. Tiffany lighting recorded intense bidder interest as a Leaded Glass and Bronze Daffodil Table Lamp on a Twisted Vine base sold for $68,750 and a Leaded Glass and Bronze Turtleback Tile Table Lamp, circa 1907, ended at $40,000. A fine Leaded Glass and Bronze Poinsettia Table Lamp on a Mushroom Base, circa 1905, brought $30,000 and a stunning Gilt Bronze and Favrile Glass 12-light Lily Lamp, circa 1910, sold for $23,125.

Leading the auction's selection of R. Lalique art glass, a Lord Dunsany's Clear and Frosted Glass Souris Cachet with gray patina sold for $37,500. An Opalescent Glass Ceylan Vase, circa 1924 and engraved No. 905, sold for to the phone for $35,000 and an Opalescent Glass Bacchantes Vase, circa 1927 and engraved No. 997, sold for $30,000 to an Internet bidder. A Yellow Cased Opalescent Glass Perruches Vase with Bronze Base, circa 1919, brought $20,000 to a buyer in the Middle East.

A pair of Lalique Frosted Glass and Chrome Seville Sconces ended at $18,750 and a bidding war broke out between two collectors who drove the price of a rare Lalique Clear and Frosted Glass Mumm Champagne Ashtray to $6,250.

A private collection of works by Louis Icart surpassed $74,000, led by the 1919 oil on canvas Fanny Volmers, which sold for $16,250, and Two Women & Borzois, circa 1930-40, which sold for $12,500.

• R. Lalique Clear and Frosted Glass Bouchon Cassis Perfume, circa 1920: Realized: $13,750

• R. Lalique Peacock Blue Glass Ecailles Vase, circa 1932: Realized: $11,875.00.

• R. Lalique Clear and Frosted Glass Grand Libellule Mascot, circa 1928: Realized: $11,875.

• A Monumental Chihuly Ikebana Glass Vase: Realized: $10,000.
