AMSTERDAM.- From Wednesday, March 30th until Sunday April 3rd at Zuiveringshal Westergasfabriek,
Unfair Amsterdam 2016 welcomes its audience. Unfair Amsterdam, an event on the border of exhibition and art fair, will have its third edition. The program includes solo presentations of new works by more than forty up-coming and established, talented artists. Together, these presentations grant a museum overview of the generation about to break through. Initiatives like Unframed, a performance program and partnership with the alternative music platform Subbacultcha, broaden the perspective. Unfair Amsterdam 2016 provides a versatile and fascinating overview of the contemporary arts field. Furthermore, it offers visitors the chance to meet a new generation of artists and to establish personal contacts.
Unframed
With a new project, Unframed, Unfair Amsterdam presents a number of exclusive and limited edition embroidered prints. In an edition of 100 pieces, artists Boris de Beijer, Kim David Bots, Jan Hoek and Ingmar König designed 100% embroidered patches of approximately 12x12 cm. Great for framing on the wall, but also exciting to iron onto a jacket or pants. Especially for the real connoisseur there is also a special edition of 30x30cm embroidered prints with a circulation of only 14 works.
Unfair Arena
Part of the exhibition is specially designed to function as an arena. In this space you will find a series of lectures, workshops , interviews and performances taking place. Especially for Unfair Amsterdam, mister Motley, together with 'Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee' and Patty Morgan, will produce a daily radio program, on site; available to listen live, by streaming or via podcast. The program provides live recordings and interviews with artists and guests. On mister Motleys website, every broadcast will be made available as a podcast alongside background information on the artist and his work. The full program will be announced shortly .
Unfair Utopia #3
On April 3rd, the third edition of our themed discussion programme in collaboration with Pakhuis de Zwijger takes place. Under the title International Collaborations, this event examines how the Dutch cultural sector compares to an increasingly globalized art world. The interlocutors are Dutch, artists working in non-Western countries and institutions, and foreign artists currently residing in the Netherlands.
