New Staff at The Arlington Museum of Art

ARLINGTON, TEXAS.- The Arlington Museum of Art announces the addition of two new staff members to it’s team in January, 2004 and the promotion of two current staff members.

Gregory Story, of Fort Worth, joined the AMA January 5, 2004 as the museum’s new Program and Event Manager, a part-time position that is responsible for the museum’s public programs and special events, including the Annual Art Auction and Gala on February 7, 2004. In addition, Mr. Story will oversee marketing of the museum facility as a rental venue. Mr. Story is an artist and craftsman who brings to the AMA a background rich in special events management and sales, with additional experience in gallery management.

Mr. Story follows Rachel Bounds, who was the museum’s Program and Event Coordinator for more than three years. Ms. Bounds was also the Associate Curator for the AMA. Ms. Bounds, an established visual artist, resigned her position in late 2003 to pursue her studio practice full-time.

Lisa Lancaster, of Arlington, will join the museum January 20, 2004 as Membership Manager and Volunteer Coordinator, a new, part-time position at the museum. As Membership Manager, Ms. Lancaster will be responsible for managing and growing the museum’s membership base, through programs and incentives including newsletters and membership packages. As Volunteer Coordinator, Ms. Lancaster will oversee recruiting and training of volunteers and docents to assist the museum in a wide variety of duties. Ms. Lancaster is a film and video artist who brings experience in teaching, editing, writing and business management to her position at the AMA.

The museum announces the promotion of Jennifer Stark, Arlington resident, to the new positions of Director of Operations and Exhibition Coordinator. Ms. Stark has been with the museum for four years, and has served as Museum Manager and as Operations Manager. As Exhibition Coordinator, Ms. Stark will add the responsibilities of Associate Curator to her ongoing registrarial duties, overseeing exhibitions, reviewing incoming exhibition proposals, curating specific exhibitions and developing the exhibition calendar. As Director of Operations Ms. Stark will oversee all daily administrative operations, including office records organization, banking and facility maintenance.

Joyce Martin, of Fort Worth, who has been with the Arlington Museum of Art for two years as Artist in Residence and as Education Coordinator, has been promoted to Education Manager, where she will continue to oversee all ongoing children’s education programs for the AMA, including the museum’s popular Summer Art Camp. In addition, Ms. Martin is developing a series of new art classes in specific media, to be taught by local artists in the museum’s new Education Center, and which will be open to adults and children across the Metroplex beginning Spring 2004.
