Sotheby´s And Christie´s Try To Erase The "Mess" |
NEW YORK.- After the judicial controversy, Sotheby´s and Christie´s have "recruited" a formidable team in charge of public relations and they have acquired paintings by better artists, all of this to encourage buyers who this month will return to their elegant Manhattan quarters, that nothing is wrong and that business will go on. After the recent prison sentence against the head of Sotheby´s for conspiring with his great rival Christie´s, curiosity is at large in New York to verify if the art market can survive the crisis. Spokesmen from the two firms have preferred not to comment on the recent events and they have placed all of their confidence in the auctions of impressionist and modern art that begin on May 7 at Christie´s and the following day at Sotheby´s.
