FALLS CHURCH, VA.- Not everyone can play like Jimi Hendrix, but with the right guitar and amp, they can try for the same roof-shaking sound. The place to go for the right vintage gear is Quinn’s Auction Galleries’ Sept. 7 evening sale featuring a single-owner collection of quality classics.

A total of 240 lots will be auctioned, with fine examples available to please all pocketbooks. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

“There are lots of good players – student guitars, five or six Mexican Strats, and three Gibson SGs that any rock guitarist would love to add to their collection,” said Quinn’s Executive Vice President, Matthew Quinn.

The top-estimated of the Gibson SG guitars is Lot 69, a beautiful cherry red model made circa 1965-68. It’s expected to make $4,000-$5,000.

The list of highlights continues with a Heritage Super Eagle Archtop, a Jesus Diaz Reyes guitar, a Gretsch 7690, and a Rickenbacker 330.

The sale includes 29 amplifiers, including early productions by Fender, Gibson, Marshall, Peavey, Roland, Mesa (Boogie), Musicman, and many more. Lot 214, a Fenter Pro Amp 26W, circa 1960s, could reach $800-$1,200; while Lot 209, a Fender “Blackface” Vibrolux Reverb 35W amp, follows with a $600-$900 estimate.

The Wednesday, Sept. 7 auction will take place at Quinn’s Auction Galleries at 360 S. Washington St., Falls Church, VA 22046, starting at 6 p.m. Eastern time. Those who cannot attend in person may bid absentee, by phone or live online via LiveAuctioneers.com.

Quinn’s will host an invitation-only jam session after the gallery’s 6 p.m. closing on Tuesday night, Sept. 6. Call Quinn’s to arrange a “backstage pass” – bring your pick!
